Title:
PRODUCTION OF CERAMIC BALLOON USING SIRASU AS RAW MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04197432
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To economically obtain a ceramic balloon by using a fine sirasu powder as a raw material and adding a melting point lowering agent to granulate the resulting mixture.

CONSTITUTION: A ceramic balloon is produced by a method wherein a fine sirasu powder is used as a raw material and a melting point lowering agent is added thereto and the resulting mixture is granulated to be dried and the obtained granule is foamed and baked at 850-950°C. In a more concrete method of a ceramic balloon manufacturing method using sirasu as a raw material, the fine sirasu powder with a particle size of 44μm or less generated in the sirasu industry is used as the raw material and an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution is used as the melting point lowering agent so that sodium hydroxide becomes 9-11% by wt. of the raw material. In the aforementioned method, the particle size of the foamed and baked ceramic balloon is pref. set to about 1.2mm or less. The melting point lowering agent is a material promoting the softening of a vitreous substance and, concretely, alkali metal hydroxide such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is used.
