Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a coarse crystal with a simple process by calcining a mixture of raw materials having a specified composition under specified conditions, crushing the calcined material to obtain a precursor, forming the precursor, rapidly heating and then slowly cooling the formed body.

CONSTITUTION: The mixture of raw materials having a specified composition is heated at 800-1000°C for 1 hr in the low-oxygen-partial-pressure atmosphere with the oxygen partial pressure controlled to ≤10-3Torr, and the calcined material is crushed to obtain a precursor. The precursor is formed, rapidly heated to the temp. range where a 211 phase and a liq. phase coexist and then slowly cooled to grow the crystal.
