PURPOSE: To simplify the support of a base metal of a tool such as a throw away tip at the time of coating the base metal with a hard film by vapor deposition.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of a supporting face A, in the central part 11 of the flank of a tool base metal 10, two places are supported as well as the side of the rake face 12 of the tool is supported by a falling preventing tool 2 provided on the supporting face A, and the base metal is coated with a hard film by a physical vapor deposition method. Since screws are not used for the support of the base metal, the supporting operation can easily be executed, and, since the contact part between the base metal and supporting piece is the central part of the flank which does not directly operate on cutting, there is no deterioration in performance as a tool, as well.
