To dispense with the work for finely pulverizing a waste plastic in the case of mixing the waste plastic into charging coal in the conventional process for producing coke by charging waste plastic together with coal and to prevent the quick clogging of a gas flow channel by the deposition of a large amount of incompletely carbonized material or free carbon on the upper part of the carbonization chamber and the wall surface of the gas flow channel.
Coarse plastic particles 11 are charged to the bottom part of a carbonization chamber 1, coal 10 is charged on the waste plastic layer 11 and the materials are carbonized. The particle size of the charging waste plastic is preferably ≤200mm and the charging amount of the waste plastic is preferably ≤5wt.% based on the charging amount of the coal.
