Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable very simple and easy production of a water dispersion type resin which is stable without thickening while it is stored, without formation of crude gel during the polymerization by polymerizing a basic nitrogen- containing compound and a specific resin in a non-aqueous solvent.
CONSTITUTION: This water dispersion type resin is produced by polymerizing (A) a resin soluble in a non-aqueous solvent, and a vinyl monomer mixture containing a basic nitrogen-containing vinyl monomer as an essential component in a non-aqueous solvent, or polymerizing the component (A) together with another mixture containing (B) an epoxy group-bearing vinyl monomer, (C) a carboxyl group-containing vinyl monomer and (D) a basic nitrogen-containing vinyl monomer as essential components in a non-aqueous solvent, or polymerizing a mixture of the components A, B and C, and (E) a vinyl monomer bearing a functional group promoting the reaction between epoxy group and carboxyl group as essential components in a non-aqueous solvent where the content of component (E) is 0.05-50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the total of components (B) and (C). The component (A) is preferably an alkyd resin of 5,000-30,000 number average molecular weight.
