Abstract:
To obtain crystalline glycolic acid from an aqueous solution of glycolic acid in an industrial scale, gentle on environment, low in impurity, especially low in polyglycolide.
This process includes a melt product forming process of elevating temperature of and removing water from an aqueous glycolic acid solution, a mixing process of mixing the molten product with a crystallizing agent, and a cooling process of cooling the molten mixture. A preferable mode removes water within five minutes.
