Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals, with simple process at a low cost, by dehydrating a carbamoylmethylthioacetic acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula NCCH2SCH2COOR can be produced by dehydrating a compound of formula H2NCOCH2SCH2COOR (R is lower alkyl) with a dehydration agent such as phosphorus pentachloride. The starting compound of formula H2NCOCH2SCH2COOR is produced by the reaction of a compound of formula HSCH2COOR with a compound of formula XCH2CONH2 (X is halogen).
