Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a cyclic ether.
CONSTITUTION: A carboxylated ether is brought into contact with a mixed metal oxide catalyst under conditions effective in producing a cyclic ether to produce the objective cyclic ether. For example, oxetane is produced from trimethylene carbonate with an Mg-Al mixed metal oxide catalyst.
