PURPOSE: To improve yield by using a chlorinated solvent as a solvent and a metal halide as a catalyst in reacting cyclopentene with hydrogen chloride and obtaining the subject compound which is a fundamental raw material for producing various organic compounds.
CONSTITUTION: Cyclopentene and hydrogen chloride are used as raw materials and reacted in the presence of a metal halide as a catalyst in a chlorinated solvent at -70 to +80°C, preferably -30 to +50°C to afford the objective compound. CCl4, CHCl3, CH2Cl2, etc., are used as the chlorinated solvent and the amount thereof used is 0.1-100 times, preferably 0. 5-10 times based on the raw material cyclopentene. AlCl3, AlBr3, ZnI2, Ng2F2, etc., are cited as the metal halide and the amount thereof used is 0.01-10wt.%, preferably 0.05-2wt.% based on the raw material cyclopentene.
