PURPOSE: To form a sound composite casting, by controlling the rate of casting of molten metal and carbide powder per unit time and controlling the rotating speed of a casting mold during casting in a casting stage.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal M' from a ladle 9 and carbide powder P from a powder charging jig 8 are cast from a casting hopper 7 into a casting mold 1 under the rotating and driving of the mold 1 by a rotary table 4. The temp. of the molten metal cast into the mold 1 is measured with a thermometer 12 and the detected quantity thereof is inputted as an input signal to a controller 13. A flow rate controller 11 for molten metal, a flow rate controller 10 for powder and a variable speed motor 6 of the rotary table are controlled by the output signal from the controller 13. The generation of cold shut in the molten metal in the casting mold and the settling of carbide particles are prevented by the above-mentioned device and a hollow cylindrical casting having dense and uniform composite texture is produced.
