To provide a method for obtaining high-purity dichlorofluoroacetyl fluoride while suppressing the formation of an undesirable by-product.
This method for producing dichlorofluoroacetyl fluoride (CFCl2COF) comprises steps of (a) the fluorination of a trichloroacetyl halide with hydrogen fluoride(HF) in a reactor which is packed with a fluorinating catalyst and has a temperature distribution in a range of 175°C to 275°C between an inlet for a reaction reagent and an outlet for a reaction product, (b) the distillation of the reaction product followed by the recycle of trichloroacetyl fluoride and the recovery of a mixture comprising HF and CFCl2COF, (c) the separation of the components of the mixture of HF/CFCl2COF by cooling the mixture to a temperature lower than -10°C and arbitrarily the recycle of HF.
