Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an electrolyte for nonaqueous electrolytic solutions, free from coloring, production of by-products by reaction of a solvent with water and deterioration of quality such as elution of a metal ion to solution and capable of obtaining extremely low water content level.
SOLUTION: This method for producing tetrafluoroborate comprises reacting a fluoride (a) represented by the formula R-F (R represents a 1-20C hydrocarbon group selected from a group comprising an alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group and alkylaryl group) with boron trifluoride ether complex (b) under anhydrous condition and then reacting the reaction product with a tertiary amine and/or a tertiary amidine (c) under anhydrous condition. The component (c) is preferably a tertiary amidine selected from a group comprising imidazoles, imidazolines and pyrimidines.
