Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesion of an Al or Al alloy substrate to an electric charge generating layer and to reduce image defects by subjecting the substrate to specified treatments after anodic oxidation or after pore-sealing treatment when the pore-sealing treatment is carried out after anodic oxidation.
SOLUTION: An electrically conductive substrate of Al or Al alloy is subjected to treatment with an alkali soln. combined with treatment with an acidic soln. after anodic oxidation or after pore-sealing treatment when the pore-sealing treatment is carried out after anodic oxidation. In this case, an anodic oxide film formed by anodic oxidation is dipped in a specified aq. NaOH or KOH soln. as an alkaline soln., the alkali soln. on the film is removed by washing with water or hot water and the film is dipped in a specified aq. NHO3 or H2SO4 soln. as an acidic aq. soln. Washing with a shower of pure water and drying are then carried out.
