PURPOSE: To obtain a production method of an electrophotographic photoreceptor by which a uniform and high-quality picture image without image defects or irregular density of the image can be obtd.
CONSTITUTION: An electrophotographic photoreceptor is produced by mounting an aluminum base body on a base body holder and forming a functional film of an amorphous material comprising silicon atoms as the source material on the surface of a base body 101 by reduced-pressure vapor phase epitaxy. In this process, the surface of the base body 101 is cleaned with water 132 in which carbon dioxide is dissolved. The source material of the base body holder consists of a material (a) having large thermal conductivity and a material (b) having small coefft. of thermal expansion and small thermal conductivity. The upper or/and lower part of the base body holder is made of the material (b). By this method, production of small image defects is prevented and an electrophotographic characteristics are improved. Further, the electrophotographic photoreceptor which gives uniform and high-quality picture images can be obtd. at low cost.
