PURPOSE: To form a uniform charge generating layer having high accuracy in thickness by dissolving a charge generating substance in an org. solvent to prepare a soln., dropping the soln. on an aqueous phase to form a thin film, applying pressure to the thin film by a proper means, and using the resulting Langmuir-Blodgett film.
CONSTITUTION: A charge generating substance is dissolved in an org. solvent to prepare a soln., this soln. is dropped on an aqueous phase to form a thin film, and pressure is applied to the thin film. The resulting Langmuir-Blodgett film is transferred to an electrically conductive support to form a charge generating layer and a charge transferring layer is formed on the charge generating layer. It is necessary that the charge generating substance is dissolved in the org. solvent and can form a monomolecular film on the aqueous phase. A uniform charge generating layer having high accuracy in thickness can be formed by using the Langmuir-Blodgett film, so an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity and giving a uniform image can be produced.
