Abstract:

To provide a production method for electrophotographic toner to surely deposit and fix a charge controlling agent to the surface of toner particles having a small particle size, and to obtain a toner having excellent cleaning property and uniform charging property and durability with which an image of high quality can be formed without fog.

This production method for an electrostatic latent image developing toner consists of the following processes. A process to mix a charge controlling agent and intermediate particles for a toner containing at least a binder resin and a coloring agent and having 4 to 500μm volume average particle size. A process to pulverize or crush the obtd. mixture and to fix the charge controlling agent to the pulverized or crushed particles by using a mechanical pulverizing machine. This pulverizing machine is equipped with an outer cylinder having lots of grooves on its inner surface and an inner cylinder having lots of grooves on its outer surface and has 0.5 to 10mm shortest distance between the outer cylinder and the inner cylinder which rotate relatively to each other. A process to finely classify the pulverized or crushed particles to which the charge controlling agent is fixed by using a rotary rotor-type classifying machine having a classifying rotor.
