To produce a enamel coated Al plated steel sheet free from the generation of fracture peeling and bubbly defects and good in surface properties.
The surface of an Al plated steel sheet is coated with slip in which the slip grain size is regulated in such a manner that the weight of a frit remaining on a sieve of 325 mesh is regulated to 1.0 to 20g per 50ml so as to regulate the enameling film thickness to 50 to 120μm, and after that, the slip is fired at a temp. lower than the m.p. of the At plating layer. This firing is executed by two stage firing of holding at 450 to 520°C, i.e., the temp. in the vicinity of the softening temp. for 5 to 15min and thereafter executing holding at 560°C or by increasing the temp. at a rate of 30 to 40°C/min in the temp. range to 520°C and thereafter executing holding at 560°C. Thus, the enameled steel sheet of high quality used as interior materials, exterior materials, cooking utensils, kitchen furniture or the like can be obtd.
