Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer reduced in the neck-in phenomenon by performing radical polymerization in the presence of a chain transfer agent and a polyfunctional organic peroxide polymerization initiator at a high temperature under high pressure. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing an ethylene polymer by radical polymerization at high temperature under high pressure in the presence of a chain transfer agent, wherein the polymerization is performed in the presence of a polyfunctional peroxide polymerization initiator, e.g. a dialkyl peroxide containing at least two peroxide bonds in the molecule, a peroxycarbonate, an alkyl peroxyester or a peroxy ketal. This process can movide a desired ethylene polymer for extrusion coating markedly reduced in the neck-in phenomenon.
