PURPOSE: To obtain a fancy yarn good in evenness by making paper from a bulky short fibers, thermally fusible fibers and fibrous hot water-soluble binder as essential components, finely cutting the paper, twisting the cut paper strings themselves or their mixture with other fibers, and subsequently treating the twisted fibers with hot water to remove the binder.
CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a fancy yarn comprises making paper having a prescribed basis weight from a slurry containing bulky short fibers such as wool, thermally fusible polyester sheath-core conjugate fibers, and a fibrous hot water-soluble binder such as polyvinyl alcohol as essential components by the use of a circular net paper machine, peeling the made paper from the drying cylinder of a drier with a doctor knife, while imparting flexibility, finely cutting the peeled paper with a slitter, twisting the formed strings as such or after twisted with other seed fibers, subjecting the twisted fibers to a scoring treatment in a scoring bath or to a dyeing treatment in an aqueous dyeing bath, and simultaneously eluting off the hot water-soluble binder.
