Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a thin film or spherical fine particles of single- or multicomponent metal oxide glass in a low temp. region.
CONSTITUTION: An organometallic compd. is hydrolyzed with halogen ions (F- or Cl-) as a catalyst in the presence of B+ ions in a reactive liq. consisting of water and an org. solvent and then dehydration condensation and vitrification at ≤200°C are carried out to produce the objective film (reaction at pH5.0-4.5) or spherical fine particles (reaction at pH8-10) of single- or multicomponent metal oxide glass. Transparent homogeneous glass excellent in heat resistance, moisture resistance, insulating property, properties as a gas barrier and ion migration preventing property can be produced in an ordinary temp. region.
