Abstract:
PURPOSE:To readily obtain the title fine powder having particle diameters of submicron and narrow particle size distribution by preliminarily reacting a mixture having an O-containing compound and an N-containing organic compound under specific conditions to give a precursor, heating and nitrogenating the precursor. CONSTITUTION:One or more O-containing compounds selected from orthoboric acid, metaboric acid, tetraboric acid, boric acid anhydride, (anhydrous) borax and sodium perborate are blended with one or more N-containing compounds selected from urea, biuret, triuret, guanidine and thiourea in the molar ratio of B and N of 1:1.5-5, heated to 200-700 deg.C under kneading by a blending device, a kneader for blending a resin and made into a molten state once. Further the blend is heated while kneading to give a BN precursor. Then the precursor is nitrogenated by a well-known method, namely in a non-oxidizing atmosphere (e.g. N2) under heating at 1,100-2,000 deg.C.
