Title:
PRODUCTION OF FLAME-RETARDANT POLYESTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0565339
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the evaporation loss of phosphorus in the polycondensation reaction for preparing a flame-retardant polyester and thereby produce the polyester having a high phosphorus content for the amt. added of phosphorus by conducting the reaction to a specified extent, then adding a difunctional phosphinic acid derive. to the reactional system, and continuing the reaction. CONSTITUTION:The objective flame-retardant polyester contains 0.3-2.5wt.% phosphorous and is produced by conducting the polycondensation reaction of a dicarboxylic acid component with a diol component until the intrinsic viscosity (is a mixed solvent of phenol and tetrachloroethane in a wt. ratio of 50:50, at 20 deg.C) of the resulting polyester reaches 0.3 or higher, then adding at least one reactive flame retardant selected from the group consisting of phosphinic acid derives. of formulas I, II, III, and IV (wherein R1 and R4 are each an ethylene or 1,2-propylene group; R2 is an (alkyl-substd.) phenylene group; R3 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R5 is 2-4C alkylene; and (n) is 1-4) to the reactional system, and continuing the reaction.
