Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject graft copolymer capable of providing a molding product excellent in mechanical characteristics in a high temperature region by copolymerizing a specific monomer mixture in the presence of a saturated iodine-containing compound, and further graft-copolymerizing a specified monomer.
SOLUTION: The objective graft copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing (A) two or more kinds of monomer mixtures selected from the group consisting of a fluorinated monomer (preferably, a mixture of vinylidene fluoride and chlorotrifluoroethylene) and propylene in the presence of a saturated iodide- containing compound of formula RIn [R is a fluorohydrocarbon, a chlorofluorohydrocarbon or the like; (n) is 1 or 2] or an iodine and bromine- containing compound of the formula InBrmR [(m) is 1 or 2], and carrying out a graft polymerization of the obtained copolymer with (B) tetrafluoroethylene and polyfluorovinyl ether of the formula CF2=CFOCX2(CF2)nY [X and Y are each H or F; (n) is 0 or an integer of 1-3].
