PURPOSE: To provide a formable interior material having a velour-like surface pattern and excellent in its touch, cushioning property, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a formable velour-like interior material comprises subjecting a fiber lap to a needle-punching treatment and subsequently to a raising processing to form a velour-like felt, subjecting the lap of the blend of high melting point fibers with low melting point fibers to a needle punching treatment to form a substrate felt, laminating the velour-like felt to the substrate felt, and subsequently subjecting the laminate to a needle- punching treatment from the velour-like felt surface side with a needle having a special shape. A relatively small amount of a resin adhesive may be coated between the velour-like felt and the substrate felt, or the nonwoven fabric of thermally fusible fibers having a low melting point or a plastic sheet may be inserted between the felts.
