Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily obtain a lightweight high-strength friction material excellent in abrasion resistance and durability and having a stable coefficient of friction by applying a specified filled resin coating material to an FRP base and baking it.

CONSTITUTION: A method for producing a friction material having an organic resin coating layer on the surface of the base material by applying an organic resin coating material to an FRP base and baking it, wherein a glass-fiber- reinforced phenol resin is used for the FRP base and a polyamide-imide resin coating material having at most 10wt.% inorganic filler and/or organic filler dispersed therein is used as the organic resin coating material. The coating material is applied to the base material and baked at 130-200°C.
