To provide a method for producing glass by a sawing treatment, enabling to straight cut the glass, and to provide a wire saw used for the method.
This method for producing glass by a sawing treatment comprises guiding a cutting wire 17 through guide grooves 19 so that the cutting wire crosses a cutting area 19 at several places having offsets V corresponding to saw-cutting widths in a cutting region 15 laterally limited with two spaced wire-guiding pulleys 11, 12 having the guide grooves 19, respectively, supplying a semi-finished product 9 into the cutting region 15 and subsequently sawing the semi-finished product 9 with the cutting wire in parallel surfaces. The cutting widths with the saw can be adjusted. At least one of the offsets V is formed on the outside of the cutting region 15, without crossing the cutting region with the cutting wire 17.
