Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject copolymer, good in dispersibility and useful as a colorant, etc., for polymeric materials, etc., by copolymerizing a peroxycarbonate group-containing vinyl monomer with a comonomer, thermally decomposing the peroxycarbonate group and grafting the resultant copolymer onto the surface of coexisting carbon black. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing a compound expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are H or methyl; R3 is 1-5C alkyl; P is 1 or 2) (e.g. t-butylperoxymethacryloyloxyethyl carbonate) or formula II (R4 is H or 1-4C alkyl; q is 0, 1 or 2) (e.g. t-butylperoxyallyl carbonate) with a vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) having copolymerizability with the compound at <=90 deg.C temperature, synthesizing a vinyl copolymer having peroxycarbonate group in the side chain, then thermally decomposing the peroxycarbonate group in the vinyl copolymer in the presence of carbon black at a temperature exceeding 90 deg.C and grafting the vinyl copolymer onto the surface of the carbon black.
