Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a granular flame-retardant having excellent processability, workability and heat-resistance by extruding a specific halogenated carbonate compound with an extruder under melting and immediately cutting the extrudate in granular form.
CONSTITUTION: A halogenated carbonate compound containing ≥1 unit of formula (X is Br or Cl; R1 is 1-4C alkylene, alkylidene or-SO2-) and having a specific viscosity of 0.015-0.10 (preferably 0.015 0.08) is melted and extruded at a temperature higher than the melting point by 10-60°C with an extruder and the extrudate is immediately cut in the form of granules to obtain the objective flame- retardant.
