Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain effectively the titled compound useful as a drug, by reacting 5-0-methylhamaudol with an acid.

CONSTITUTION: Hydroxyl group of 6-acetyl-3, 7-dihydroxy-5-methoxy-2, 2-di methylchroman shown by the formula I is acetylated, to give 3,7-diacetoxy-6- acetyl-5-methoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman shown by the formula II. This compound is reacted with a base and then with an acid to give 5-0-methylhamaudol shown by the formula III. Then, this compound is reacted with an acid, to give the aimed compound shown by the formula IV.
