PURPOSE: To prevent cracks and surface roughness at the time of casting and blooming rolling by subjecting stainless steel contg. specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Al, rare earth metals, alkaline earth metals and Y to casting and soaking treatment at specified temps.
CONSTITUTION: The high Al-contg. ferritic stainless steel is the one having a compsn. contg., by weight, ≤0.03% C, ≤0.5% Si, ≤0.5% Mn, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.005% S, 15 to 26% Cr, 4 to 7% Al and ≤0.03% N and furthermore contg. total 0.01 to 0.2% of one or more kinds among rare earth metals, alkaline earth metals and Y. This steel is cast into an ingot in such a manner that the molten steel temp. at the start of the casting is held to 1565 to 1585°C. Before the surface temp. of the ingot pulled out from a mold reaches ≤550°C, it is charged to a soaking furnace and is subjected to blooming rolling. Its yield in the production can be improved.
