Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively producing cobalt chloride solution which can be supplied to an electrolytic obtaining of high purity cobalt metal by economically and efficiently removing impurities such as copper, zinc, calcium from a cobalt water solution obtd. as a by-product in a nickel refining process, etc.
SOLUTION: From the cobalt water solution containing the calcium, copper and zinc as the impurities, these impurities are extracted and separated in an organic solvent by using a mixed organic solvent extracting agent composed of organic phosphoric acid type and oxime type to obtain the high purity cobalt solution. The organic solvent after extraction is brought into contact with a water solution with an adjusted pH, and the cobalt coextracted in the organic solvent is selectively and reversely extracted and recovered. Further, the organic solvent after recovering the cobalt is brought into contact with a water solution with an adjusted pH, and the impurities are reversely extracted, separated and recovered to regenerate the organic solvent.
