PURPOSE: To produce a honeycomb structural body consisting of superplastic aluminum featuring high strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance and productivity by using laser beam welding of multiple reflected light.
CONSTITUTION: Two sheets of aluminum alloy plates 1, 1' are superposed on each other and two sheets of the inside surface parts exclusive of hollow ways 2 are fused, by which a hollow way honeycomb 3 is constituted. Two sheets of the plates of a thickness 0.1 to 1.0mm of the superplastic aluminum alloy contg., by weight %, 3.0 to 7.0 Mg, 0.4 to 1.0 Mn, 0.03 to 0.15 Si and 0.05 to 0.3 Cr and consisting of the balance Al and inevitable impurities are welded in the parts exclusive of the hollow ways by using laser beam welding of the multiple reflected light by charging of the laser beams to the inside of the narrow groove. A pressure is thereafter applied to the hollow way parts to expand the non-welded parts. As a result, the joint strength of the hollow way honeycomb structural body is increased to 5 to 10 times the strength capable of withstanding yield strength deformation. The honeycomb structural body which has the high heat resistance and corrosion resistance and does not generate integranular corrosion particularly in the surface bead parts is thus produced.
