Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce in high yield a hydrogen-containing chlorofluorocarbon or a hydrogen-containing fluorocarbon capable of becoming a substitute candidate compound for fluorocarbons to be regulation objects.

CONSTITUTION: 1,1,2-Trichlorotrifluoroethane, etc., is reduced with hydrogen in a liquid phase in the presence of a reducing catalyst consisting essentially of an element of 8, 9 or 10 group to produce a hydrogen-containing chlorofluorocarbon such as 1-chloro-1,2,2-trifluoroehtane or a hydrogen-containing fluorocarbon such as 1,1,2-trifluoroethane.
