Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce an image fiber where the cross-sectional shape of the end part is polygonal, by heating and pressurizing the end part of the bundle of many optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: Many optical fiber strands as picture elements are arranged and are bundled to constitute a picture element group 2, and the end part of this picture element group 2 is heated and is pressurized from sides with a mold or the like to deform the end part of the picture element group 2 into a polygonal shape. Many picture element groups 2 are bundled so that the sides of them are matched to one another, thereby constituting an image fiber.
