Title:
PRODUCTION OF IMPROVED AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF ROSIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5458759
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: Rosin and a fatty acid of specific carbon atoms are dissolved in an organic solvent, emulsified in water by using an anionic emulsifier such as slufonic acid or sulfuric acid ester, then the solvent is distilled off to form said rosin dispersion having diluting stability without the formation of foam.

CONSTITUTION: (A) A rosin composition, susually consisting of 0W95% of a rosin preferably aldehyde-modified rosin and 5W100% of an adduct ffom rosin and an α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (B) a straight or branched chaine fatty acid of 6W14, preferably 8W12 carbon atoms such as capric or lauric acid are dissolved in a water-insoluble organic solvent such as benzene. The amount of the fatty acid added is 1W15, preferably 2W10% based on the rosin and the concentration of the solution is usually 20W70, preferably 40W60%. The solution mixture is emulsified in water in the presence of an anionic surfactant of sulfonate or sulfate at a temperature of 10W80, preferably 30W60°C and the solvent is distilled off preferably under reduced pressures to produce said aqueous dispersion of rosin
