Title:
PRODUCTION OF IRON CARBIDE AND DEVICE THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2635945
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the reaction rate when iron oxide particles are introduced into a fluidized-bed reactor, fluidized and carbonized to produce iron carbide, by introducing iron particles into the middle of the passage of iron oxide particles.
CONSTITUTION: After hematite ore particles essentially comprising iron oxide are preheated by hot air in a preheating furnace 2, the particles are put in a fluidized-bed reactor 1, where the particles are fluidized with reactive gas containing carbon monoxide and carbonized. In this process, iron oxide fine particles are collected by a dust collector 3 from the waste gas from the preheating furnace 2 and introduced into a reducing furnace 4 where the iron oxide is reduced with a reducing gas containing hydrogen to produce iron particles. The obtd. iron particles are supplied in the middle of the passage of iron oxide particles to the fluidized-bed reactor 1. Thereby, the iron particles which are supplied in the middle of the passage which corresponds to a latter stage of the carbonization reaction in iron oxide particles act as a catalyst for the carbonization reaction and promotes the reaction. Thus, the production rate of iron carbide can be improved.
