Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for the industrial production of L-isoleucine useful as pharmaceuticals and additives for food and feed.
CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain belonging to the genus Escherichia, resistant to S-(2-aminoethyl)-L-cysteine or D-serine and capable of producing L-isoleucine is cultured in a medium to produce and accumulate L-isoleucine in the cultured product. The accumulated L-isoleucine is separated from the cultured product.
