PURPOSE: To efficiently produce L-tyrosine hy adding phenol to D- or D.L-serine and reacting phenol with D- or D.L-serine in the presence of β-tyrosinase containing bacterium cell and serine racemase-containing bacterium cell.
CONSTITUTION: Phenol is subjected to enzymatic reaction with D or D.L-serine in the presence of β-tyrosinase containing bacterium cell and serineracemase- containing bacterium cell, e.g. in a solvent of 0.1M-phosphoric acid buffer (having about pH6.0-10.0) at about 20-50°C for about 2-72hr under stirring. As a result, D serine or D.L-serine is converted into L-serine during the reaction and the aimed L-tyrosine can he obtained in high yield without residual phenol in reaction liquid. The concentration of phenol in the reaction liquid is preferably about 0.5-5% (W/V).
