Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a method for producing lactones in which disadvantages in a conventional method for producing the lactones are solved and the lactones are obtained in high yield while suppressing the formation of cyclic lactones and oxidation by-products of the lactones and separation thereof from a catalyst can simply be carried out.
CONSTITUTION: The method for producing lactones is characterized by catalytically reacting a mixture of a cyclic ketone with a ≥2C aldehyde with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of at least one solid metallic catalyst.
