Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve surface hardness by forming a metallic plate material to a gear shape by gas cutting, forming a carburizing layer on the extreme surface of the product by utilizing the carburization reaction of a flame in the gas cutting stage and subjecting the material to high-frequency hardening.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic plate material is preheated up to an oxidizing temp. and a gaseous mixture composed of propane, city gas, acetylene, butane, a gaseous mixture of acetylene and propane and oxygen is blown under 3W5kg/ cm2 pressure to the material thereby forming the material to a gear shape. The flame generated in this gas cutting stage has a carburization effect by which the carburizing layer is formed in a range of about 100 microns from the cut point. The material is subjected to high-frequency hardening after gas cutting.
