Title:
PRODUCTION OF LIGHT-TRANSMITTING CERAMICS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3629756
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a long-lived luminous pipe excellent in mechanical strength and linear transmittance (light transmitting ceramics).
CONSTITUTION: For example, a powdery ceramic raw material comprising an Al2O3 raw material, an Sc2O3 raw material and an La2O3 raw material is mixed and dispersed with pure water, a binder and a dispersing agent by a wet process and the resultant dispersion is then vacuum defoamed, cast formed, subsequently dried and then calcined. After the calcination, the formed compact is treated with HCl to melt and remove impurity metallic ions in the compact, e.g. CaSO4) or Si components. The calcined compact is then sintered (regularly baked). The sintered compact is further preferably secondarily sintered [by the hot isostatic pressing(HIP) treatment] and, as necessary, treated with HF, washed and dried.
