Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the dispersion of retardation and to decrease the coloration in a visual angle direction by mixing several kinds of particles which are different in grain size and mixing the particles with an orienting agent at the mixing ratio higher with the particles of the smaller grain sizes. CONSTITUTION:Three kinds of 5mu, 3mu, 2mu average grain sizes of the microspherical particles made of synthetic silica to roughen the surface of a substrate are so weighted as to attain 5mu:3mu:2mu=1:2:2 by weight and are sufficiently mixed. Although the particles of 3mu and 2mu are the same in the weight ratio, the ratio of the number of the particles is larger with 2mu. Such particle mixture is sufficiently mixed at 0.01 by weighed with 1 compounding agent essentially consisting of polyimide and the mixture is applied on the glass substrate by a spin coating method. As a result, an oriented film 2 distributed with the particles 1a of 5mu, the particles 1b of 3mu, and the particles 1c of 2mu is formed. The dispersion of the retardation is thus increased and the coloration is decreased.
