Title:
PRODUCTION OF LIQUID CRYSTAL ELECTROOPTIC DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01289914
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To unify liquid crystal driving conditions and to increase the driving margin of the element and the quantity of the light transmitted at the time of driving by impressing a voltage to the device at about the transition point where the liquid crystal begins to exhibit a ferroelectric property or below to put the liquid crystal into a 1st or 2nd stable molecular configuration state and maintaining this state for >=10 hours. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal electrooptic device is heated near to the transition point at which the liquid crystal exhibits the ferroelectric liquid crystal phase. The device is then subjected to the voltage impression treatment to array the ferroelectric liquid crystal between electrode substrates to either one state of the 1st stable molecular configuration state or the 2nd stable molecular configuration state. The device is rested in this state for >=10 hours to unify the driving conditions varying with each of respective domains and to improve the driving characteristics. The display quality and driving characteristics of the liquid crystal display element, light valve, etc., for which the liquid crystal exhibiting the ferroelectric property is used are thereby improved.
