PURPOSE: To improve the yield of the objective compound from methanol, etc., and to prolong the life of the catalyst in the production of the titled compound by contacting methanol, etc., with a specific zeolite catalyst under specific condition, by adding a ≤10C hydrocarbon to the raw material, thereby suppressing the increase of the reaction temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is produced by contacting a raw material containing methanol and/or dimethyl ether with at least one kind of a catalyst consisting of (i) a zeolite containing alkaline earth metal, (ii) a zeolite containing alkaline earth metal and modified with alkaline earth metal and/or (iii) a ZSM zeolite modified with alkaline earth metal at a weight-hour space velocity of 0.1W20hr-1 at 300W650°C under a reaction pressure of 0.1W100 atm. In the above process, a ≤10C, especially ≤6C hydrocarbon is added to the raw material to effectively suppress the temperature rise of the reaction system and improve the yield of the objective compound and the life of the catalyst. The amount of the hydrocarbon is 0.1W10 times based on the carbon number of the methanol and/or dimethyl ether in the raw material.
