PURPOSE: To efficiently and inexpensively produce the metal-based composite material which is uniformly dispersed with fine pieces of ceramics in a matrix metal without receiving failure, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A mixture 46 composed of metallic pieces 44 consisting of the matrix metal and the fine pieces 42 of the ceramics is first formed. The mixture is then heated to a temp. range where the metallic pieces are held half molten. This mixture is stirred and is gradually cooled to solidify.
