Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively produce a flat metal carrier having excellent joining strength by forming a doughnut-shaped honeycomb body into a flat honeycomb body by deforming fabrication to forcedly insert it into an outer cylinder before drying a binder, feeding a brazing filler metal onto the surface of the binder and drying the binder to perform brazing.
CONSTITUTION: Before drying a binder, a doughnut-shaped honeycomb body is formed into a flat honeycomb body by deforming fabrication and further the honeycomb body 1 is forcedly inserted into an outer cylinder 3. Next, a brazing filler metal 2 is fed and stuck onto a binder part of the honeycomb body forcedly inserted into the outer cylinder. Next, the outer casing 3 is transferred into a dryer 14 to subject it to drying treatment. Then, the outer casing 3 is transferred into a heater 15 and good brazing is given between a sheet 1a and a corrugated sheet 1b and to the outer peripheral surface of the honeycomb body 1 and the inner peripheral surface of the outer cylinder 3 to obtain a flat metal carrier. Consequently, a flat metal carrier having excellent joining strength is effectively produced.
