PURPOSE: To enhance adhesive strength by coating a metal plate with a thermosetting adhesive dissolved in an org. solvent and laminating a fiber reinforced thermosetting resin to said metal plate and subsequently curing said resin under heating to integrate the same with the metal plate.
CONSTITUTION: For example, 18g of a phenol resin and 6g of a butyral resin are dissolved in a solvent mixture consisting of 15g of toluene and 15g of methanol to prepare a thermosetting adhesive. This adhesive is applied to the single surface of an aluminum plate having a thickness of 100μm in a coating amount of 100g/m2 and allowed to stand for 24hr at 50°C to remove the solvents to obtain the aluminum plate to which 27g/m2 of the adhesive is adhered. This metal plate adhesive coating surface and a fiber reinforced thermosetting resin being uncured FRP (SMC) are heated and pressed for 5min at 140°C under pressure of 50kg/m2 in a 20cm-square flat plate mold and cooled to obtain an aluminum plate/FRP composite sheet. This sheet has a strength of 4.1kg/25mm width in a 180° release test.
