To provide a production process of a cyclohexanone and/or its ketal from a benzen, capable of reducing generation of a cyclohexane by-produced with a cyclohexene in partial hydrogeneration process of benzen, that can lessen the loads of the subsequent dehydrogeneration process.
The production method of a cyclohexanone and/or its ketal comprises the following consecutive process (1) to (5): (1) a partial hydrogeneration process that partially hyrogenerates benzene under acidic condition, (2) an oxidation reaction process that oxidize the reaction mixture obtained from the process (1), (3) a recovery process that recovers unreacted materials from the reaction liquid after the oxidation reaction process (2), (4) a dehydrogeneration process that obtains benzene from unreacted materials recovered from the process (3), (5) a recirculation process that recirculates the benzene obtained from the process (4). The amount of cyclohexane by- produced with cyclohexene in the process (1) is 24 mol% and less.
