Abstract:
To provide a novel production method of indan, which has less dilution of tetrahydroindene and can efficiently dehydrogenate tetrahydroindene at a low temperature for a short time.SOLUTION: A production method of indan includes a step of dehydrogenation for obtaining a reaction product containing indan, by bringing a raw material composition containing tetrahydroindene in contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst under a temperature condition of 150 to 300°C, in which the dehydrogenation catalyst contains a carrier containing aluminum, and a 14th group metal element and platinum carried by the carrier, and an atomic ratio of the 14th group metal element relative to the platinum in the dehydrogenation catalyst is 9.0 or larger.SELECTED DRAWING: None
