Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method suitable for industrial production of monochloroadamantanes to be suitably used as a raw material for medical or agricultural chemical intermediates, high-functional materials such as heat-resistant polymers, or electronic materials such as semiconductor resists.SOLUTION: It is found that monochloroadamantanes can be produced by allowing adamantanes to react with thionyl chloride in the presence sulfuric acid and at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of aliphatic hydrocarbons and halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons, while suppressing production of dichloroadamantane and higher-order adamantanes.SELECTED DRAWING: None
